Lee Jun-ki Plans a U.S. Tour

March 6, 2009 at 3:33 pm | Posted in Music | 1 Comment

Actor Lee Jun-ki plans to go on a U.S. tour in the latter half of this year, following the ones in China, Thailand, Japan, and Hong Kong. Lee’s agency says that a detailed schedule is being worked out now and it’s coordinating the event so that his overseas activities wouldn’t be in conflict with his domestic ones.

Known for his amazing acting performance in the film “King and the Clown” and dramas “My Girl” and “Iljimae,” Lee has his own fan clubs in China, Thailand, Indonesia, and other countries. When he was in Indonesia for some volunteer work recently, the international airport there was paralyzed with Lee’s screaming fans. His immense popularity overseas has motivated his agency to host a world tour.

Lee has a fan concert planned for April 18 at the Olympic Park in Seoul. The concert titled “Episode 2” will be the foundation for his world tour. Meanwhile, he has left for Thailand on Thursday to model for Korean designer Andre Kim in a fashion show celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Korea-Thailand relations.

Lee Junki to Star in Drama Next Spring

November 25, 2008 at 11:11 pm | Posted in Stars, Television | 4 Comments

Today’s hottest actor Lee Jun-ki has decided to star in the tentatively titled “Heroes.” To be aired on SBS next April, the drama is about a genius scam artist who gathers a team of riffraff to fight corruption and injustice.

Lee’s last work was a historical fusion drama, “Iljimae,” which won him wide acclaim and a huge following of new fans. However, he has been concerned about living up to the fame and expectations brought on by his talented acting in “Iljimae,” and has not been able to make any decisions on his next work. Lee says his character in “Heroes” is very appealing because he has survived the darkest days of his life and rose above it all to bring justice to the world. Kwon Ki-young, the writer of “Heroes,” wanted to deliver to the Korean people a message of hope and love through the adventures of these not-so-perfect characters.

“A Time for Dogs and Wolves,” a drama series which aired on MBC last year, has been chosen by Korean and Japanese internet users as the best drama series of the year. According to the organizing committee of the annual Seoul Drama Awards, the drama received 60.1% of the total votes cast from September 4 to October 5 on Yahoo! Korea and Yahoo! Japan.
