The lyrics of singer Rain’s ‘Rainism’ that came under heavy criticism due to it’s risky content has been amended.

On October 28th, The Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs under the influence of The Commission on Youth Protection decided that ‘Rainism’ could cause emotional damage to the character of young teens and as a result ordered ‘Not Suitable For People Under 19 Years Old’ stickers to be attached on the album.

Right away, Rain made some changes to the lyrics and starting on the 23rd, online music sites will be providing a ‘Rainism Clean Version.’ The lyrics that came under fire were ‘My magic stick is spinning inside your trembling body’ and ‘You can’t feel beyond my body shake’ and they will be changed to ‘Feel the rhythm digging into my heart yes I know Feel my soul’ and ‘Our one and only Rainism.’ The new clean version will also be added to the album for sale in stores.

During the time of the criticism Rain’s company J.Tune Entertainment made clear that, “Magic stick refers to the one used in the choreography. It was not written with any hidden meaning behind it,” however The Commission on Youth Protection ruled that such an explanation was not sufficient enough.

In the meantime, the criticism that caused broadcasting station KBS, MBC and others to re-examine ‘Rainism’ decided that it was not a large problem.

  1. ‘magic stick’

that’s so funny!! i think the korean music industry is turning on Rain. First it was being cut off by commercials now this…

  2. this is so dumb… -___-

  3. I find the idea of 19+ stickers being attached hillarious. Even assuming there was subtext, 14+ should be enough ^_^

Poor Rain, such foolishness surrounding some ambiguous lyrics.

Mind you, I’ve heard some pretty dirty stuff played on the radio where I’m from, and I don’t think it’s a bad thing to cut it. But still – Rain’s lyrics are ambiguous at best. Not that dirty.

  4. Some of these people need to grow up. Poor Rain. Those lyrics are barely suggestive, considering American lyrics and some other ones. My gosh, I wonder if everybody is against Rain. x.x

  5. I don’t understand why everything is going against rain..He’s the most hardworking artist I’ve ever known of but somehow people just making things wrong for him.
