The Korean Sarah McLachlan.

Recently, a video was released online of singer ‘Memory’ singing Sarah McLachlan’s “Adia” and it has become a hot topic of conversation among netizens.

It has peaked the curiosity of so many that video became viewed by 500, 000 people because it bears the same (if not better) resemblance to Sarah McLachlan’s sensitive and rich appeal. The new singer’s release is quite an unprecedented event and the new approach has certainly generated much interest.

Memory, who is 19 years old and real name is Maeng Yu Na, had participated in the 2006 soundtrack of KBS drama, Spring Waltz and also in the sountrack of SBS minseries, Lovers In Prague.

Last April, the drama Spring Waltz was televised in Japan and many became aware of her. She made a contract with the entertainment company, Watanabe Productions and debuted under the name ‘Yuna’ in Japan.

Being a young 19 year old, not only does she have a great voice but also writes lyrics and is expected to participate as a singer and songwriter.

Memory’s first self-titled album will be released in September. She has composed the lyrics for 4 of the album tracks herself.

  1. Good, but in a different way, y’know? Doesn’t sound quite better, but not poorer either.

    ^ㅂ^ She’s good though!

  2. WOW she has a great voice D8
i’ll deff. be watching out for her album!

  3. Wow, she sounds really nice… I thought it’d be something worth clicking, since SEOULFULL posted it, and I wasn’t disappointed.
_>), but somehow, just looking at her modest, satisfied expression at the end made me go “Aww.”

    Anyways, good luck Memory/Maeng Yu Na~! Hwaiting~

  4. Does she speak English??
    She has a good accent!
    Good for her!!
    =]

  5. Wow, I see a lot of potential in this girl. Problem with signing with a no name label is getting the right promotions and the right people to help her out. But looks like she’s already attracted much attention before even debuting- very good sign. So all she needs is to keep going at the same pace and rise from there. 🙂

Talent, great English, nice voice, writes, etc… Doesn’t look half bad either. She’s got a lot of things going for her.

I’m surprised no one’s compared her to Younha yet. Same name (just written differently or whatever), plays piano, got bigger in Japan first.
